Established in 2004, the WATESOL Washington-Area Teachers of English to the Speakers of Other Languages) NNEST (Non-native English-speaking Teachers) Caucus welcomes both native and non-native-speaking professionals to share a common vision of professionalism and equity in the field of TESOL.
The primary goals of the WATESOL NNEST Caucus are to
support NNESTs professionally,
build awareness of NNEST benefits, concerns and needs,
promote research on NNEST issues, and
encourage NNEST/NEST collaboration.
If you think that
one of the unique characteristics of our profession is the all-encompassing boundaries that welcome ethnic, racial, cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity,
collaboration among native and non-native English-speaking teachers will form the basis for the desirable future of our profession, which can only be actualized by legitimate participation of both parties,
you are responsible to build the future of our profession, and work with like-minded professionals
WATESOL NNEST Caucus will be happy to welcome you!
