Color Vowel ® Chart - Color it Out! Workshop

Discover the Color Vowel ® Chart and learn how teaching with a Color Vowel ® Approach powerfully intersects with English as a Second Language, pronunciation, literacy, spelling, and vocabulary development for learners of all ages. This workshop will introduce you to using the Color Vowel ® Chart in a K-12 setting. You'll have the opportunity to play Color it Out!, a revolutionary (and very popular!) card game based on the Color Vowel ® Chart that features high-frequency words and ‘sight’ words, to set the stage for meaningful repetition for improved reading and pronunciation.

Shirley Thompson 
Workshop Facilitator

Shirley Thompson, Co-Founder and Training Director of English Language Training Solutions, holds a Master of Arts in Linguistics from University of Michigan. A former Fulbright fellow (Senegal) and Peace Corps Volunteer (Benin and Togo), Shirley taught for 25 years at George Washington University, where she specialized in ESL writing and pronunciation instruction. She also taught in the MATESOL program at American University and at the ELI at University of Maryland. Shirley is co-author of the Color Vowel ® Chart.
